Bottle. Color: Black, very thin beige head. Aroma: Bit tart, fruity blackberry, leathery wild yeast funk, subtle peat. At first I missed the word vatted on the label and was surprised by the aroma. Even thought for a moment this beer was probably infected... My mistake! :) Aroma just like what to expect from a VATTED Porter BA Coal Ila. Nice. Taste: Leathery funk, fruity notes of blueberries / blackberries, notes of roasted malt and Coal Ila peat and booze. Earthy. A little bit thinner body than hoped: Just over medium body. Just below average carbonation. Interesting beer that I would like to drink more than once. Nice one.

Bottle at home. Opaque black color, average sized tan head. Aroma is odd. Malts, dark malts, islay notes but also a hint of acidity strangely enough.. But, the flavor has it too. That same acidity mixed with malts, smoke peaty islay notes. Roasty notes as well but there is always that smokey acidity that does not do it for me at all. Mwah.

Head reduced to rim, black beer. Islay smoke a mile out at pouring, as well as a fruity (billberries come to mind) aroma, further tarr², phenols². Stout acidity, mixing with the Islay malts, and again the billberries streak, which spoils nothing. Some (pipe)tobacco too (straight, not sauced). Acidity keeps balancing the whole. Very slick and oily, almost chewy. Feels better carbonated than it looks. Islay maltbomb. Thanks to Stef!

Dark brown colour, almost no foam. Nose of roasted malts, coffee, tart berries, whisky. Taste is roasty, rather tart, some fruitiness and whisky finish.

Pours very dark brown. No real head. Some bubbles. Scent is pleated, sharp, intense, toasted oak. Taste is sharp, bit bitter. Roast, toasted barrel. Peat. Sharp, even more so due to. Might bodied and medium Carbo. As expected, to peaty for me. But on top of that also too thin, bit too bitter for the end product it is.
