A big, hoppy IPA with plenty of bite! Our assertive, hop-centric Double IPA has a lean malt backdrop and is brewed with four American hop varieties – Summit, Palisade, Cascade and Magnum. Piney, citrus, floral, not-for-the-timid!

Bottled. Hazy golden colour with a mediumsized foamy white head. Aroma is citrus, some biscuity and mild caramelly notes as wel as some passion fruits. Flavour is caramel malts, citrus, passion fruit, mild herbal and grassy bitterness.

12 oz. can, sent by Two Roads for my comment. A traditionally hoppy pale ale nose. Pine and resin. Amber beer in the glass, with a foamy head. The initial hop nose kind of dwindles, until it's not as overpowering as a hop bomb might be. But then, there's that big dose of hops when I taste it. Heavy on citrus and then some bitterness. Yet it's easy enough that I could swig it all down. The mouthfeel is a little thick, again, perhaps from the extra alcohol. Hoppiness settles in to complement the malt, making this a cooperative go with beer.

My first selection out of a Halftime delivery. Right off I will say I love the name of the beer, a little personal history in that. Pint can opened and pouring inside of a tulip glass from ABGB in Austin. I see a dark orange liquid with an almost purely white head. Good carbonation brought to the party. The scent is yellow fruit and a touch of pine. Pedestrian nose, the taste is old-school grand. I determine mucho hops, crackers, grapefruit, malt and straw. Nicely bitter and the finish is somewhat dry. A pleasant surprise.

US Pint can into a vase shaped UK Pint glass at home on 31st March 2022. BBD was 27th November last year, hope it's OK; this is a live rating! Clear pour until towards the end when some sediment flew out, so the bright amber body became a little misty. Smooth white head on top. Caramel and piney hop aroma, more hoppy than caramel, especially as the beer warms in the glass. This is a bitter little number and drank fresh would most likely be too harsh for me, but it may well have mellowed since it was canned and I'm happy with that. The caramel I mentioned in the aroma doesn't appear in the taste at all, in fact there isn't even a hint of maltiness in the flavour. Most likely the best Two Roads beer I've had so far (like I am an expert with 5 rates already!).

[12oz can from the Beer52 online shop] A hazy amber coloured pour with lots of fine carbonation and a loose cream coloured head; aroma of mango and pineapple; full bodies with an immediate hit of fruity fresh green hops giving bitterness and a good impression of a pine forest after rain; then a soft barley-sugar finish with a gentle warmth in the stomach. A beer to sip slowly and enjoy.

Rocky white head left a froth on an unclear amber body. Malt, pine & citrus aroma. Medium to full bodied, low carbonated & clothing. Malt, pith, pine, stewed fruit & marmalade tastes. Nice one.
