The Mistress is inspired by the strong and dark baltic porters that, for centuries, have been brewed and consumed by people around the Baltic Sea. Among them, the inhabitants of the island where our brewery is. Brewed traditionally with a mix of domesticated and wild yeast and then put to rest in freshly emptied bourbon barrels for a full four years.
Black and viscous with a small tan head. Aroma is dominated by tobacco, leather, dried fruit, smoke, and warm asphalt. Mellow carbonation and slick mouthfeel with complex flavors of dark chocolate, coffee, burned sugar and black cherries. The bourbon character is well integrated and manifests as vanilla, wood and a hint of warming alcohol. Long mouth coating aftertaste with sticky caramel sweetness and lingering roasted bitterness.

Bottle 75 cl. Bottle #21/858. Pours an opaque black with a small and creamy light brown head. Rustic old and oxidized woody nose. Rich, sweet roast - very sweet and borderline cloying. Some vanilla and licorice. Carbonation to the low side. 031222

Bottle, 75cl, at Jæren Ølfestival. A black one, at least dark brown, with a minimalistic beige head. Quite heavy aroma, meaty, roasted and alcoholic, with some brown sugar and hazel nuts, dark chocolate and a light boozy touch. It’s full-bodied, warming and pleasantly carbonated, with a good sweetness. Roasted malts, coffee hints, alcohol, booze, brown sugar and some dark chocolate and nuts. Lasting finish. An intense one, delicious, tasteful and dangerously easy drinkable. 220813

Shared bottle at Bryne tasting. Pitch black colour, minimal tan head. Boozy aroma of bourbon, fusel, molasses and oak. The flavour is better, quite sweet, distinct bourbon notes.

Black with a lasting, little tan head. Big and complex aroma with liquorice and chocolate, bourbon and coconut, faint hints of smoke and tar. Sweetish and full bodied roasted flavour with just a touch of charcoal and ash. You get just enough barrel qualities with bourbon, vanilla and coconut.
