After three years of research and experiments (the Lager Lager Lager series), we found our favourite lager recipe. This German-style Pilsner is brewed with traditional German and Czech hopvarieties and 100% pilsner malt for a pleasant body. It's a bottom fermented beer which makes the beer clean and crisp and is lightly dry-hopped to give it subtle grassy and citrus aromas.

Bottle from Oedipus. Aroma is grassy hop, grainy malt, hay, touch of citrus, bread. Flavour is light to moderate sweet and bitter. Body is medium. Nicely grassy Pilsener.

Fles 33cl thuis. Zoetje, citrus, grassig, granig, hoptonen, crisp, licht kruidig, wat caramel. (26-4-2024).

Bottled@Littlepub, Vaasa. Lively, gusher warning. Golden colour, huge white foamy head. Aroma is grainy, some toffee, mild grassy tones as well as some herbal notes. Flavour is herbal and grassy with some earthy notes and grainy elements too.

On tap at Oedipus, pours a clear pale golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out crunchy herbal hops and dull biscuity malt. Flavour is pretty dull, but with very deficient, earthy hops, light grass and straw. Just boring and under-hopped and a bit muddled. Not great.

Op tap bij Oedipus. Helder goudgeel, witte kraag. Licht bloemig en iets fruitig pils, licht grassig en wat citrus. Wat zoetig, had wat meer body mogen hebben maar prima pils verder.

Keg at the brewery taproom Amsterdam. A almost clear golden yellow coloured pour with a sticky white head. Aroma is clean, cereal and fruity apple, esrmters, lemon. Flavour is composed of crisp, light bready grains, clean, apple, crisp. Palate is clean and crisp, semi sweet, highish carbonation. Fine.

0.33 l bottle from 'Dranken Melgers', bottled in April 2019. Clear, golden with a medium large, foamy, stable, white head. Slightly sweetish, rather fruity-floral and just a bit grassy aroma of lemon peel, lychee and a touch of grass. Slightly sweet, moderately bitter, gently fruity-floral and a little grassy taste of grains, grass, some lemon and hints of lychee, followed by a short, gently bitter, slightly grassy, moderately dry finish. Thin to medium body, fairly effervescent mouthfeel, lively carbonation. Solid Lager but not on par with Oedipus' other recent Lager offerings. They can do better, but maybe the bottle is too old already with five months on it.
