Every autumn the forests around our brewery are bursting with small wild blackberries. We spent some days with friends picking them for a beautiful tart red ale that had been aging in red wine barrels since 2015.

The result is Angela, a chestnut colored ale with a cream head. Aromas of prune, vanilla and toffee dominate, followed by the flavor of ripe blackberries, pepper, caramel, red wine, and toasty malts. Medium-bodied with a juicy, tart finish and hints of aged balsamic.

Bottle, 7% in celebration of my 20th Ratebeer anniversary. Good fruity and citric aroma. Mild and complex. Hazy chestnut colour. Small off-white head. The flavour is acidic, bites a bit. Tastes of berries, probably blueberry or such. Turns out to be blackberry. Not sweet, but has some sweetness. Acidic, but sort of mellow.

Bottle. Pours slightly hazy dark amber with airy beige head. Clear aroma of sour yeast and malt, with touches of berries. Dry, vinous flavour with dusty notes and touches of berries and malt. Dry and dusty aftertaste. Well-balanced and tasty. A nice one.

Bottle tasted October 2020. Clear amber body under a medium sized beige head. Strong and nice aroma of oak, vinegar and malt. Taste is strong and complex with the same elements as aroma, malty, acidic, oak, red berries and balanced alcohol. Fine body and long lasting, pleasant aftertaste. Very nice.

Hazy copper with a creamy and lasting off-white head. Funky aroma with barnyard and leather, plenty of balsamic vinegar, some red berries and a touch of wood. The flavour is tart and funky with some aggressive acidity and a touch of vinegar. Blackberries dominate the aftertaste.

On tap @EurHop 2019 (Rome). Corpo medio, carbonazione media. Una perla.
