A naturally brilliant blend of malt and hop characters. Solid gold colour, remarkably aromatic. smooth body with hints of fresh citrus. Dry delicate hop flower finish. A drink that is both distinctive and long on refreshment.

Pours a clear amber color, topped with an average white head. A mild malty aroma, not much else there. A mildly sweet taste, some caramel and slighht bittery finish. Enjoyable and smooth.

Bottle from a Tesco. It pours clear golden amber with a small white head. The nose is soft, malt-forward, bread, toasty grain and soap. The taste is crisp, lightly bitter, bread, grass, floral and lemony soap with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Simple and not much doing. I prefer the cask version.

So this on tap all over Edinburg but my rating is from drunken walkabout. Gold pour with faint hops aromas. Tastes are all middle the road hopping characteristics. Citrus and pine but subdued. Bitter palate.

Pours amber and clear, a foamy white covering which diminishes completely. Malty and fruity aromas, hint of lemon, smooth tasting with a caramel finish. Solid bitter.

Classic Scottish beer, launched in the ’90s to remember brewer Robert Deuchars. Thin but stable head, colour a warm golden blonde with orange hue. Fruity aroma, apple, peach, orange peel, malty background, some peppery hops; taste begins fruity, soft maltiness, sweetish, ending in a herbal, quite strong hop bitterness. Stylistically to be regarded as an IPA in the original, British sense of the word, it seems, but in that sense different from the American-style IPA’s we are more acquainted with nowadays.

Clear golden. Good white head. Refreshing aroma of grass, flowers, pine shoots and lime marmelade. Similar taste, well balanced with malt sweetness. Medium short aftertaste. Good drinkability.

Bottle@The Mitre Hotel, Hampton - golden amber pour with a small white head. Very subdued hoppy aroma and taste, light citrus lemony nuances, faint herbal and floral, pretty watery, pretty basic stuff.
