A naturally brilliant blend of malt and hop characters. Solid gold colour, remarkably aromatic. smooth body with hints of fresh citrus. Dry delicate hop flower finish. A drink that is both distinctive and long on refreshment.

3.8% abv in cask and 4.4% in bottle.

Ship tavern, cask. Duchars IPA 3,8% a deep golden orange with an old school UK IPA aroma that is more malty than hoppy. Soft bodied with a distinct earthy tobacco leaf & lemon flavor. Interesting as a mild or English bitter but not really my image of an IPA.

Bottle from Waitrose and drunk at home. Clear amber lasting off white head. Some malt and some earthy hop on the aroma. Some toffee in the mouth. Some hop on the finish. It’s a pretty decent bitter. Bit of yeast character. Well balanced and pretty drinkable.

500ml bottle at home. Pours clear amber, no head. Big bubbles, too fizzy. Light malt aromas, butterscotch. Taste is watery and buttery. Used to like this beer, 5+ years ago. It’s changed or I have. Probably both.

Cask at the Half Moon, Bishops Stortford. Golden brown with a small white head and big ass lacing. Aroma of digestive biscuits, weak iced tea, hint if orange peel. Taste is sweet, light and refreshing. Very well balanced with the occasional hint of sour/bitter. Inconsequential, bordering on milquetoast, mouthfeel, but it’s fitting for this beer. Didn’t this used to be better, or have my expectations grown?

Cask at the Last Drop, Edinburgh. Pours golden with small white head. Caramel malty and bit spicy. Bland and boring. Disappointment.
