Can from The Gull, North Vancouver
Black colour, small head. Aroma of dark malt and dark fruit jam. Full bodied, moderately sweet, with a good balance or mildly roasted malts; some berry jamminess, without clashing with the other elements. Well constructed.

330ml on Alex's deck. Appearance: very dark brown with a beige head. Aroma: very sweet berries, figs, lots of caramel. Taste: a lot of blueberries, sweet, some hoppy bitterness. Overall: very intense blueberries in here, very interesting.

Jet black brown with a rich light brown head. Dark chocolate and blueberry notes. Chocolate and blueberries with some roast. A bit artificial, but fine for what it is.

Poured from 330mL can. Near black with light tan head. Aroma has lots of blueberry with mild chocolate and a hint of roast. Flavour has light blueberry syrup, chocolate, touch of roast. A decent, yet overt, blend of blueberry with the rest of the stout. Not bad if you like those type of blends.

10-04-21 // RB-tasting. Taster. Not my beer. The blueberry seems to artifical. Roasted malts but also sweet. But not very well balanced overall.

Intensiv fruchtig-malziger Beginn. Süffig, süß, Laktose. Die Blaubeere wirkt etwas künstlich, erkennbarer Alkohol, nicht wirklich rund. Das Malz wirkt nebensächlich. Mittellanger Abgang. 9/8/9/8/7/8

Can. Black colour. Thin brown head. On the nose, lots of blueberry, and some chocolate, maybe a touch of roast. I mean, I'm all in on the yirgachefe beer thing. It's not subtle or even attempting to be refined, but at the aroma point, I don't care much. I like it better on the palate. Big body, a touch of syrupiness, but it drinks about the 9% it is, which is light for this type of beer in North America. That drinkability is an asset, though, as this does bring the acidity, light roast, and blueberry of a fine Ethiopian. Breakfast beer.

330 ml can. Pours black with moderate tan head. Aromas of creamy chocolate, dark berries and slick roasted malts. Flavors of fruity dark chocolate coated berries and sweet oily roasted malts. Right on for a fruit flavored stout and definitely on the sweeter pastry side. Better than a box of Purdies...

330mL can, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out lots of blueberry, medium sweetness, and a touch of roast. Flavour reveals medium roast and lots of sweet blueberries. It's not too sweet, even with the lactose. The roast base is nice, but I've never really been a fan of fruit additions to stouts. Good, but not really my thing.
