Jet brown with a decent light brown head. Chocolate, barrel notes and some rum. Nice light boozy sweetness and some chocolate. Not complex or rich, but decent.

473 ml can. Pours a very dark brown with bubbly head like cola. Aromas of roasted malts, chocolate nougat and fruity rum. Flavours follow nicely. Really well balanced for a rum BA though noticeable mouth drying alcohol on the finish.

Can. Dark brown. There's a big rich burnt sort of molasses note to this. South American rum doesn't entirely narrow it down, but either Diplomatico or El Dorado would make me smile, since those are two excellent rums. Raisins, fruitcake, alcohol and other such intense impy things. On the palate, it's quite raisiny. Lots of fruitcakey sort of dessert depth to this. The base beer has really been amplified, and while the barrel seems to lend a ton of alcohol, it's not harsh. Just big and burly. The rich molasses character is good times. Tasty stuff indeed. Next level? Amburana cachaca barrels.

2021-01-23, can from The Gull, North Vancouver, 8-4-9-4-18=43
Very rich chocolate; the rum is mostly evident as soon as the can is open, and then later in the finish, warming and adding a degree of complexity; dark sugars, light smoke, tobacco. Wonderful.

Black colour, small and disappearing head. A good chocolate beer, with moderate sweetness, not too sticky, brown sugar, touch of vanilla, and rich rum that is perceived in aroma and flavour. Excellent rum truffle stout.

473mL can, pours jet black with a small brown head. Nose is full of intense rum barrels, lots of oak, and medium roast - nothing subtle here. Flavour follows accordingly, with prominent rum barrel character, medium roast, and a hint of molasses. There's certainly some sweetness here, but it's kept in check by the rum and alcohol. Very nicely made.
