Hopped several times to create a unique blend of textures and aromas, O’Hara’s Helles is higher in bitterness than main stream lagers and delivers a unique bite with a clean balanced finish. The hop profile is tailored to suit the craft beer drinker and the bitterness is clean and intense. The malty body pays tribute to traditional European lagers and an extra-long conditioning time allows the maximum array of lager flavours to develop. The combination of noble hops, speciality malts and a classic lager yeast strain allow the esters and hop aromas to combine and balance perfectly.

Bottle from Beer52. Clear bright gold with small white head, poor retention. Aroma of sweet and grainy malt, hay, dusty to grassy hops. Taste is very malty, quite sweet with grain and bread notes, hops come through a bit floral and herbal. A bit too sweet and unbalanced for me this one.

Bottle from Beer52. Deep gold with a thin white head and a middling fizz. Both the head and fizz diminish quickly. Whiff of industrial lager. Tastes better than it smells - butter, caramel and just a hint of straw and lemon. Improves as you drink more but it's still a bit flabby and dull. Not great, but still better than most industrial lagers.

Bottle from Beer 52 – drank at home. There’s malts in the aroma plus some traces of continental hops. Pours a golden yellow with a large but transient white head. Sweetness is the first impression in the mouth. Some grainy cereals with metallic leanings plus lemongrass and underlying malts. Some peppery hops comes through later to spice things up a bit. This one grows on you.
