One juice was pressed, then split into 5, & fermented by 5 different cider makers; hence one juice has created 5 ciders. It's a fascinating study in terroir, being all of the same origin, but allowing each makers approach to shape the fermentation & the cider that results! How are they similar, how are they different? Taste for yourself how much things vary!!…

Sample thanks to danlo. First of the five to sample. Misty, almost murky gold appearance. Cannot find any information online on what Olivers has done here, but aroma confirms a peaty whisky barrel influence, which I loathe. Next.

Bottle from Hogan's. It pours hazy golden - orange with a decent white head. The aroma is musty, old cheesy, earthy, meaty, smoke, bandaids, TCP, crisp apple, juicy, tangy, leafy and earth. The taste is crisp, crunchy, dry, snappy, yet juicy, bitter - sweet, woody tannin, sweet, juicy, tangy, sweet juicy apple, apple skin, earthy, touch of alcohol, sherbet, refreshers and sour apple chewits with a drying finish. Medium body and fine, frothy carbonation. Nice depth. Interesting and quaffable.

Bottle at home, from Olivers online, 15/05/21. Almost clear Lucozade shade of golden with a fast collapsing white head. Nose is apple pulp, light spice, smoke, funky notes, tannins, porky twang. Taste comprises bitter sweet apples, tannins, light smoke, nip of whisky, straw. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, assertively drying close. Solid complex affair.

750ml bottle from Fine Cider Co. Hazy orange gold colour, white foam head that dissipates to a thin rim and aroma of phenolic islay cask, smokey, whisky, meaty, with apple, funk hints. Taste is fruity, juicy apple, then peaty wood barrel, islay whisky, some light funk and drying oaky tannins. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry woody tannic finish. Very drinkable .

Hazy golden, no real head. Dry apple. Yellow bell pepper (paprika), green asparagus, hard to pin earthy vegetal notes. Superdry finish. Postman’s rubberbands. Juicy, floral, dry. Oliver’s is art. Not always Top of the pops, but always complex. Awesome. 💛
