Our Mélange series is a chance to roll out the barrels, roll up our sleeves and explore flavors that cannot be achieved outside of the art of the blend or by any one beer. French for "blend", this mélange fuses the mature character of some of our most vintage barrels of barleywine and old ale with the dark depth of our imperial stouts, including both Tuesday-themed releases and Share This. This mélange is one for all, with rich, complex notes and the signature kiss of oak.

Bottle picked up from Beer Revolution, Hay on Wye, Powys, consumed at Moira Furnace Folk Festival, Moira, Leics/Derby’ border. Saturday 19th August 2017, shared with dad. As Toni pointed out this tastes of bourbon, I think she actually assumed it was bourbon. I have to say you get very little else, it’s bourbon all the way, it’s boozy, bourbony and a bit of a mess. However dad likes it which is good. It cost me quite a lot of money, I am a bit disappointed, actually a lot disappointed. A6 A4 T4 P3 Ov10 2.7

Bottle. An unclear brown beer with a dense, small, dark beige head. Some lacing. The aroma is lightly roasted, with chocolate, coffee hints, some dried fruits, cocoa, meaty hints, some woody notes and a bourbon-ish touch. It’s full-bodied, warming, nicely carbonated and semi-dry. Roasted malts, coffee, dark chocolate, cocoa and a woody touch in the flavor. Lasting finish with a good dash of cocoa. Nice indeed. 170617

750 ml bottle, thanks Adam! Color is a deep brown Thin head. Aroma is toffee, subtle oak, raisin, subtle oak.

The flavor is the same with a good oak character more so than bourbon. Alcohol is not totally hidden but pretty tame for 13.4. It does show a old barley wine / oxidation character. Medium in body with a mild alcohol warmth. Pretty nice
