Our Mélange series is a chance to roll out the barrels, roll up our sleeves and explore flavors that cannot be achieved outside of the art of the blend or by any one beer. French for "blend", this mélange fuses the mature character of some of our most vintage barrels of barleywine and old ale with the dark depth of our imperial stouts, including both Tuesday-themed releases and Share This. This mélange is one for all, with rich, complex notes and the signature kiss of oak.

(750ml bottle shared @ Nische's tasting, thanks Ola!) Pours dark brown to black with a small cream coloured ring of bubbles. Notes dominated by bourbon really, with rather sweet caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, nutty wood and roast, hints of coconut, the sweetness up front turning into a quite dry finish with nuts and toast, plenty more bourbon, some dusty bitterness, fair amount of alcohol heat. Medium-bodied, a bit thin for the ABV, with soft carbonation. Solid blend but a bit too boozy and bourbon-dominated, lacking the fullness and malt concentration of the top-level barley wines we had at the tasting.

Bottle, many thanks Nische! Hazy brown color with large beige head. Aroma is intense Bourbon barrels, all the vanilla and caramel, nutty. Taste is chocolate, a touch vineous, Bourbon intensity again with a ton of caramel and vanilla, but also a touch walnuts. Silky mouthfeel, fizzy but soft carbonation. Intense, nice.
