This Belgian Red Rye IPA gets its deep red hue and plum and raisin-like flavors from two types of crystal malts, one of them made from rye. This is a perfect backdrop for the fruit character of our house yeast and flavorful hops, and Himari focuses on Motueka from New Zealand and Mosaic from the United States. Motueka lends strong citrusy notes that are reminiscent of lime, while Mosaic is famous for its pungent, almost resinous tropical fruit character. The result is an inviting beer in both its visuals, flavor, and aroma. Rich malt flavors dominate but aren’t cloying or sweet, and the sharp citrusy hops along with our Belgian yeast keep the beer dry and drinkable. We have a feeling that everyone is going to fall for Himari!" Naming The kanji for "緋" (pronounced "hee") means scarlet, with the "mari" being the kanji for hop Himari is quite the looker, and her beautiful hue of scarlet and ruby is her namesake.

Deep red. Very fruity IPA that skews malt forward. Not a ton of “Belgian” presence and smacks more of a deep amber ale. Still, plenty good brew with fruit notes. Ends somewhat dry.

Tap at the brewery. Was waiting to try this for a couple months. PRetty orange-brown. Nose is nicely hoppy. Citrus, grass, herbs, resins, chocolate, caramel, rich malt. Lovely flvor too, chocolate and caramel fudge, orange Belgian chocolate, spices and resins. Wonderful beer.

Nice Belgian aroma with some spicy maltiness too. Taste is good. Less Belgian, bit of fruitiness, light sweetness with a touch of spice maybe. Ginger? Got a light hoppy bitterness to it. Nice

The latest in KBCs Mari series is a red IPA. KBC Himari 7% Belgian Red IPA Nice orange brown color with tan foam and a super fresh vibrant hop bouquet with nice peppery Belgian notes. Medium to full bodied with a great spice character, nice sweet funk and crisp finish complemented with hop notes. Really good stuff.
