caramelly malty aroma, there might be a delicate vanilla note from the oak.
flavor is quite caramelly and malty, some belgian yeasty notes too. Decent super sweet malty belgian ale.

Bottle from HoTM. It pours clear golden - blonde white a medium fluffy white head. The aroma is hearty bready malt, cereal, toasty grain husks, hay, wood, vanilla, ginger & lemon tea, pear and melon. The taste is crisp, firmly dry, light bitterness, boozey warmth, some grass, hay, straw, pretty fruity, pear, apple, melon, ginger, dry wood, touch of vanilla custard, apple crumble and a touch of spice with a drying finish. Medium body and moderate, fluffy white head. Quite nice overall.

Helder goudgeel bier met schuim wat redelijk snel wegzakt. Smaak is bitter zoet en krachtig warm in de mond met iets van honing en wat zoet fruit.

Bottle from Geers. Clear golden, stable, foamy, white head. Aroma of coriander, orange peel, white sugar, dough, vanilla, candied apricot, plum, honey, cooked apple, white rum. Taste has sweet apricot, plum and banana in a honeyish, white-bready, white-sugary malt body with spicy, grassy, soapy (coriander) notes. Floral hoppy finish with lots of ripe yellow fruit, hint of orange peel, sugary still and slightly spicy, whilst white rum-like alcohol heats the throat. Medium body, oily texture, average carbonation. Very hard to catch the oak treatment here so it's hard to even acknowledge the effort... I'll stick with their Scotch - from time to time.

Tripel in this hypercommercial Gordon series (might well be Dominicus Tripel for all I know) allegedly aged in oak barrels - another big one trying to cash in on popular tendencies in the craft beer market. Medium thick, snow white, moussy, slowly opening and thinning head on a misty golden blonde beer with pale beige-ish tinge. Aroma of banana-flavoured chewing gum, industrial apple juice, soap, breakfast cereals, vanilla-like oak wood indeed but not very strongly so, some very faint wood even, urinal cake, wodka, honey, lavender perfume. Sweet onset, white candi sugar mixed with very strong banana ester, something sweet apple-like too, very bubblegummy with sharply prickling carbonation; slick body, cereally pale maltiness sweetened and 'pumped up' by white candi sugariness, leading to a retronasal vanilla-like 'perfume' and strong soapiness; vague grassy hops in the background are unable to counter the sweetness, while wood tannins remain on a microscopic level and instead a calvados-like booziness takes over, warming but luckily not becoming overly astringent. Sweet banana ester, the 'core' of this beer's flavour profile, remains dominant. Weirdly soapy and perfumey, very sweet and feeling 'empty' and industrial, but somehow a bit less worse than I had feared from this usually dreadful series. And as always with this company, one should wonder where it is actually brewed; Swinkels in the Netherlands seems the most likely candidate here. Cheap industrial, sweet and boozy 'macro beer', but admittedly not the worst in this series - perhaps even the best on the market right now.
