Parabolas of past has been aged solely in Bourbon Barrels. Parabola 2021 has a subtle twist being that same base beer was matured in equal thirds bourbon, rye whiskey and wheated whiskey , then blended together. Brewers associate rye as bringing really great black pepper notes to beer, along with a rye bread character. The wheated bourbon barrels add a sweeter mouthfeel, and a cereal grain character which comes through as well. It just adds a layer of depth and complexity even deeper than Parabola already had.
Editor's Note: this Parabola gets its own entry because of the different barrel treatment: three different barrels instead of the usual Elijah Craig barrel.

Poured pitch black in color.
Woody nose, pretty smooth mouthfeel. Warming. Roasty. Touch of licorice. Still very woody.

12oz bottle, in cellar for four years. Dark brown pour with a filmy, fine beige head. Aroma greets you with some boozy, malty sweetness. Taste brings a plethora of flavors, malty, smoky, oak, brown sugar, bourbon. Hint os roasty bitterness too. Alcohol warmth stays with you. Always nice.

On tap at As Is NYC. Opaque black pour. Creamy tan head is scant. Aroma of oak, bourbon and bittersweet chocolate. Flavor follows aroma. Big and boozy. Rich and intense. Sip this one slowly. Outstanding!

Bottle split at L6, thanks to Dave, 02/03/22. Black with a khaki head that retains well. Nose is chocolate, dark malts, spice, booze, molasses, barrel notes. Taste comprises chocolate cake, toffee fudge, brown sugar melt, molasses, bourbon, spice, dried fruit rinds. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a big boost offered. Solid if a little hot.

Bottle shared in London - cheers to Dave. Pours clear deep brown, with a frothy beige head. Medium sweet flavour, rich semi-dark malts, toast, aged dark fruits, toffee, earth. Full bodied, lightly chewy, with fine carbonation. Lightly warming finish, faint oxidation, toasted toffee, earth, burnt grains. Enjoyable.
