Parabolas of past has been aged solely in Bourbon Barrels. Parabola 2021 has a subtle twist being that same base beer was matured in equal thirds bourbon, rye whiskey and wheated whiskey , then blended together. Brewers associate rye as bringing really great black pepper notes to beer, along with a rye bread character. The wheated bourbon barrels add a sweeter mouthfeel, and a cereal grain character which comes through as well. It just adds a layer of depth and complexity even deeper than Parabola already had.

Editor's Note: this Parabola gets its own entry because of the different barrel treatment: three different barrels instead of the usual Elijah Craig barrel.

Bottle picked up from Beer Republic webshop nr Breda, Netherlands. Consumed at home Saturday 5th June 2021. We had Chicken Tikka Kebabs and Raita and also Halloumi and Kebabs with a Mango and Tomato Relish, really lovely. Listening to Hamish Hawk - From Zero to One. Pours black with a creamy textured tan head. Oh my this is super rich, super indulgent, wow it tastes like a million dollars. Don't know much about the whiskies involved but they add a nice touch to the aroma, along with vanilla and chocolate. Chocolate also in the flavour department, some Black Forest Gateaux (that's the cherries in the description then), whiskies adding their thing. Wow this has a huge body, some bitterness, coffee, rich roasted malts, a little burnt edge, warming, really thick in the mouth. Stunning, simply stunning.

355ml bottle. Soft, roasty and smooth with loads of barrel notes, some bourbon and wheated whisky notes, some rye too. Coffee, chocolate and cocoa notes, some rye bready notes in the finish, hints of warming alcohol. Good stuff, really well balanced and tasty.

Zijdezacht. Mooie combinatie van boozy en toch nog zacht. Complex. Topspul. Maar niet veel beter dan die Puhaste Silver series en wel 2.5x zo duur.

12 oz bottle from the Firestone Walker Brewery Store. Nose is rye bread, coffee, whiskey, and hints of vanilla and coconut. Black with a big, lightly lacing cinnamon tan head. Flavor is a black pepper note, prunes, sweetness, and a hint of char.

Bottle from the brewery. Pours dark brn/blk with a creamy tan head. Aroma of mixed whiskeys - dark chocolate. Full bodied. Flavor starts with, amazingly, cherry, but quickly moves to heat, chocolate, coffee notes and burnt malt. Drier than expected - but not dry. Bitter is sort of a fruit/chocolate/coffee/burnt malt/heat combination. Spicy notes dart in and out. Exquisite.
