Keg at Dead Crafty, Liverpool, 23/03/19. Pitch black with a decent tan cap that dissipates edgeward. Nose is chocolate, coconut, modest roast, dark fruit rinds, nutty. Taste comprises Bounty bar, chocolate sprinkle, roast malt, light charr, toffee, coconut shavings, light spice. Medium bodied with bite, fine carbonation, drying close with a kiss of alcohol. Decent enough impy.

19 March 2019. At Salt Horse, Edinburgh. Shared with the lovely Anke! Pours hazy black with a lasting, thin, foamy, dark beige head. Aroma of aniseed, oak, fondant, whisky, candied dates, blackcurrant, faint peat, iodine, medicin, sweet tobacco, black olive. Taste is light to medium malty sweet, quite fruity (date, fig, raisin), a bit chocolatey, umami notes of olive, mushroom even, popping up; peated & earthy in the medium roasted bitter middle, next to nontes of toast, coffee roast, fondant, ash & tobacco, somewhat spicy (black pepper) too. Dryish, peppery hoppy finish, lingering peat, tobacco, toast, warming whisky alcohol. Full body, oily texture, soft to fizzy carbonation. Hard to decide, it loses itself a bit in that medicinal character but still enough flavours to enjoy.

Tap. Darkest brown color with beige head. Aroma is phenols, raisins. Taste is raisins, acetone, vanilla. Oily mouthfeel with medium, fine-bubbled carbonation. Tasty enough, but a bit too much acetone in the raisin flavours.
