With the introduction of 70+ West Coast IPA (ABV 6.8%), Old Nation brings a classic, straight down the middle pilsner malt bill with a more classic aggressive 72 IBU providing the traditional bitter balance of the style. Using a combination of Columbus and Simcoe hops for their pine/resiny notes along with Amarillo for citrus and floral notes, Old Nation’s brewers added the proprietary Idaho 7 for a new-school tropical twist.

Reviewed from notes.
Can to becher glass.
Appearance: semi-bright golden yellow with a light transparency and a two finger white foamy head which dissipated nicely to leave some light lace
Aroma: citrusy to floral to piney and slightly orangey hop tones; light malts
Flavor: wraps up the prior noted hop aromas to a fine bittersweet entanglement; finishes crisp with the piney to citrusy hop notes
Texture: light to medium bodied, sessionable; some smoothness but also some hop assertiveness, not too much though
Overall: pretty good IPA that seems to lean towards the West coast style. I'd bang again.

Hazy gold in color with a three-finger head. Aroma is citrus fruit and pine resin. Taste is also citrus fruit and pine resin and way too bitter.

Can shared by Chip, thanks! Pours a clear dull gold with a white head that dissipates quickly to the edges. Aroma has dank pine and citrus rind with a hint of light onion and sweet grains. Flavor has bitter pine and dank citrus with a bit of resin and a light grain backbone.

Clear gold pour. Thin foam. Very hoppy nose. Flavor is bitter hops, like grapefruit zest, that is pithy with burning zesty palate. Medium carbonation.

Mild rhubarb nose. Clear amber, medium head. Grass, rhubarb, bread. Medium body, easy carbonation. Mild and surprisingly un-fruity considering the hop bill.

Super clear, light golden coloured body with a slight ghostly and straw pale white golden tint, all with a nice two to three centimetre tall off-white and tan head. Aroma of light passionfruit, oranges, mangoes, melons and some papaya with a moderate amount of dry hops and grapefruit and seemingly a good hit of malt here, too. Medium-bodied; Crisp citrusey, floral and even slightly piney hop notes shine through and provide a nice bitterness and depth at first with a pungent citrus flavour as well with more grapefruit than oranges and a bitterness from both at the end, with a nice enough malt backbone at the end. Aftertaste is fairly crisp and pungent from the hop side of things, with a soft sweetness, also seemingly coming from the citrus fruits, but a light and subdued malt flavour hits at the tail end to provide a little support for all the hops. Overall, a nice, dry, grassy and very citrus-oriented IPA with much more hops than malt - just like the good IPAs of old! Nice to sample this one very fresh from the great state of Michigan. I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from Trig's Grocery in Wausau, Wisconsin on 07-August-2021 for US$1,87, canned on 14-June-2021 and sampled at my house here back in Washington on 28-August-2021.

Very dank, but still more modern than old-school, with a lot of papaya and peach and chive, not enough grapefruit and caramel. Needs more bitterness, less juice. Eh.
