Il Montante is a Doppelbock to the lower border of the BJCP: slightly low on alcohol, but perfectly in line with the style for what concerns taste and aroma. A persistent, dense head opens the way to roasted malts which emerge at the first sip, together with caramel and toffee-like notes. Finish is dominated by raisin flavors and Aurora hops. We could call it a masterpiece without exaggerating. This is the beer you wouldn’t expect from Brewfist just because you made up a wrong idea about us until now.

Tap at Birrai Eretici, in Bologna, Italy. Pours brilliant red, with medium grained, white foam, limited. Aroma is malty, caramel, candy. Body is average, with moderate carbonation. Taste is medium sweet. Final is average.

Clear red brown beer, small creamy off-white head, unstable, a bit adhesive. Aroma: lovely, very malty, caramel, a little nutty, dried fruits, lovely! MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: nice, very malty, a bit sweet, caramel, soft roast, chocolate, bitter. Aftertaste: very clean, malty, good hoppy finish, dried fruits, gentle roast, very nice one, perfectly executed doppelbock!

Cuivrée, col fin blanc-cassé.
Arôme sur un bouquet bien malté qui donne de suite le ton de cette DoppelBock - léger crystal-grillé, chocolaté et caramel presque toffee, le tout est appuyé par un agréable nez fruité noir/sec.
Palais est sur une belle base de malt - toasté, cara pâle, fruits noir et sec en appui oscillant vers datte et figue. Petite pointe chocolatée avec un léger retrait levure - ester en support. Amertume est fine et plaisante en fin de bouche - assez florale.

16 September 2020. At Astral Beers Pub, Bologna. Shared with the lovely Anke! Hazy amber, unstable, frothy, tan head; some lacing. Aroma of red apple, raisin, milk chocolate ('koetjesreep'), peanut, brioche, fudge, liquorice, tea leaves. Taste has sweet dried banana, red apple & raisin in a brioche & fudge malt body, bit herbal & nutty bitter, retaining that accent into the herbal, slightly peppery hoppy finish, vaguely toasty with more dried fruits & warming liqueur alcohol. Medium body, oily texture, average carbonation. Enjoyed it a lot.
