Sample (thanks fonefan!). Black colour, small brown head. Aroma is smoked, some tarry and mild peated tones. Flavour is peated, some roasted, liquorice, freshly cut wooden and rather dry wooden tones.

Can at home in Hackney - picked up from an online shop, probably HOTM. Pours black with a frothy, beige cap. Medium sweet flavour, rich bitter ashy roast, a nip of funk, chocolate, raisins, earth. Medium to full bodied, lightly oily, with fine carbonation. Bittersweet finish, more ash, baking cocoa, scorched earth, moss. Solid, old-school kind of gear.

Creamy lightbrown excellent fully lasting head. Black colour. Heavy malty and moderate hoppy aroma. Heavy bitter flavor. Long heavy bitter finish. Creamy palate. Nice.

Can shared, black beer, almost no head. Aroma is peat, whisky, malt, smoke. Taste is the same, bitter, peat, whisky, malt, light sweet. Very nice

Dark brown/black colour, beige foam. Nose of roasted malts, smoke, some sweetness. Rather dry taste, also hoppy, whisky finish.

Sur ce 5ème opus de ces Barrel Project de 2021, Kees nous propose un Imperial Stout vieilli en fut de Laphroaig. Et si la bière est très plaisante avec un whisky très bien intégré et un bon équilibre général l'ensemble reste simple et sans variation. En verre, nous sommes sur un noir total (108 d'EBC) avec une mousse s'estompant rapidement. Au nez, c'est le café qui domine avec des arômes de chocolat et whisky tourbé très bien intégrés. A l'attaque de légères épices apparaissent sur un cocktail café/chocolat/whisky tourbé toujours très bien équilibré francs. La texture y est très fine tout en conservant une intensité et corpulence appréciable. On ne retrouve cependant pas l'umami attendu avec l'utilisation de Sorachi Ace qui est le seul houblon utilisé. L'équilibre malt/houblon/alcool est impeccable (titrage à 11% et 88 d'EBU). Pas de variations pendant la dégustation, mais longueur appréciable avec tout de même une légère astringence. Bien fait.

Can from Brygshoppen. Nice head with good duration. Color is black. Aroma and taste are rich roast malt, little peat, little smoke, wood, chocolate and hops. Nice roasty finish.
