* Old rating, best before 31 Mar 12. Nettes, malziges typisches ESB. Schöne Ale-Note, eich Hauch Karamell aber nicht zu tief. Moderat bitterer Nachgeschmack.

Bottle that my Dad shared with me - cheers! Deep amber with a moderate cream head and a slight fizz. Lots of caramel up front, decent bitterness to balance. Nice traditional bitter, if a little simple.

Bottle at home in London. Pours clear, orange-gold with a soft, foamy head. Light toasty brown bread in the nose, some dry berries, leaves. Light sweet flavor, mild leafy bitterness, simple bread and berries, faint dirt. Light bodied with fine to average carbonation. Light sweet finish, pretty crisp, dry leaves, hints of pine, dry berries. A very simple beer overall, but it’s pleasant and easy to drink.

Cask at Hamilton Hall, JDW, London. Pours clear gold with a tight, white cream head. Aroma holds pale malts, light orange citrus and hay. Light sweet flavor, some doughy malts, cornbread, faint hints of lemony citrus. Light bodied with fine, creamy carbonation. Moderately sweet finish, more doughy pale malts, straw. Simple but quite pleasant and drinkable.
