Pours pitch black with a beige head that leaves a small blanket. Aroma's: iodione, peat, roast, fudge. Retronasal it's peaty, whisky, roast, dark chocolate, a bit red fruit. Flavour is light sweet, alcohol, peat/iodone, a bit salty even. Alcohol is a bit sharp. Above medium bodied. Long finish with dark chocolate, roast, ash, above moderate bitter.

33cl Fles van De Laat. Man wat is dit weer goed zeg. Zwarte kleur, bruine kraag. Zachtzoete turf, licht rokerig, leer, gedroogd donker fruit, vijgen, gebrande mout, koffie, chocolade, hint van drop en soyasaus, licht boozy, rozijntjes, bitterzoete finish. Volle body. Heerlijk.
Sweet roasted chocolate malts. Sweet, boozy, whiskey, smooth tight peatiness.

Bottle. Color: Black, light brown head. Aroma: Roasted malt, peat. coffee. Taste: Dark roasted malt, mocha, peat and subtle iodine. Subtle notes of dark dried fruit, dates. Bit boozy and bit sticky. Moderate sweetness and moderate to over moderate bitterness. I think I can taste the sweetish Sherry popping up very shortly now and then, but I'm not entirely sure. Full body, soft carbonation. Smooth and dense mouthfeel. Long lasting peaty and roasted finish. Very nice, very well balanced in between base beer and barrel.
