500ml bottle from Cains Brewery tap. Deep, ruby coloured body. Tiny off-white head. Smell of roasted coffee malts. Nutty malts and raisin in flavour. Bitter tail. Moderately sweet, and medium on the palate. Decent version of the style (shared with friends on the train from Liverpool to Euston, 05.05.2009).

500ml bottle from Booths. Ruby colour with thin beige head. In cask form this is a very good beer. As a pasteurised and filtered bottle itโ€™s not as good. Some decent malt, but the rest is just a bit dour.
