Gelbvieh (pronounced ‘Gel-Fee’) is a Franconian style Kellerbier. Brewed with our friends from Newbarns Brewery in Leith, Scotland. Expect an unfiltered and hazy gold lager with a robust bitterness and a floral, spicy hop character, dashed with notes of strawberry and fresh melon. Gelbvieh is named after a classic Bavarian cattle breed originating from the Franconian Region. Similar looking to both Simmentals and Limousins, which are found at both Newbarns Farm and in the grounds of Thornbridge Hall.

Sample, thanks oh6gdx! Lightly hazy golden, mid sized head, Aroma of honey and grain, some musky floral notes. Sweetish with medium body and rounded mouthfeel. Bready, honeyish malt with evident floral hops and a slight vegetable note. Balanced bitterness. Not as velvetty soft as top Franconian kellerbiers, but a fair try.
