“Shark Pants! – Dit bier is de gecombineerde inspanning van De Struise Brouwers en Three Floyds Brewing Co. Op 3 mei 2011 kwam Struise naar onze Brouwerij in Indiana en we creëerden een 9% abv Double Indian Pale Ale met behulp van de Struise-huisgist met enkele medium kristal mouten en een portie haver op een berekend aantal IBU’s van 260. Hetzelfde bier werd gebrouwen bij Struise wanneer de bemanning van Three Floyds eind mei 2011 naar België overkwam. Hoewel het een geweldige tijd en een eer was om met Struise te brouwen, is er een sombere noot bij dit bier.
Onze vriend en medewerker Rich Sheppard is op 11 april 2011 overleden. Dit bier is gemaakt om zijn nagedachtenis te eren en met een deel van de opbrengst die naar zijn familie gaat. Denk er altijd aan, leef een rijk leven”.

Bottle from Struise shop. 21 February 2022; bottled: 7/4/2021. Clear dark amber, stable, frothy, tan head. Aroma of grapefruit peel, dried orange peel, ripe mango, pine resin, hard caramel, biscuit, pear, red apple. Taste has sweet pear, mango & peach around a bitter core of orange peel, pine, spices and sourish citrus flesh; kept together by peanutty, caramelly & biscuity malts. Dry, bitter, resinous & piney hoppy finish, very grapefruity but still quite malty; warming gin-like alcohol in the very end. Medium to full body, oily texture, average carbonation. Very hefty, tasty, just a great old-school DIPA.

Bottle shared. Slight hazy amber with small beige head. Caramel malts, light flowery, qtoffee, orange peel, grapefruit, grassy hops, dry grain husks. Quite sweet with a long lasting quite bitter finish. Full malty body. Classic US style DIPA, out of fashion I guess but this is well made. Nice.

Vana kooli mõrudus oooojaaa (300 IBU!), karamell ja sõbrad. 3.6. Kui alksi maitses vähem oleks, siis saaks isegi kõrgema hinde.
