Blended Saison + Truffles + Sage
Trøffeler is our debut collaboration with Denmark’s To Øl collective. Teaming up to make a Barrel-Age Saison made from a base of white spring Tuscany Truffles and Sage. Ithas been blended in Sauterne casks to add a sweet characteristic while still letting the yeast funk up the beer. We used foraged truffles from the Alba in Northern Italy, continuing our linage in using only the finest ingredients in our beers.
Based on our shared passion for pushing borders and using untraditional mixes of ingredients to make new and interesting takes on existing styles, this collaboration is uses a philosophy of balanced playfulness!

KYGG 060419. Golden-orange color with an off-white head. Aroma is yeast, funk. Flavor is yeast, floral, flower, funk, citrus, herbs, sage. oak. Nice beer.

Bottle at Unorthodox. Quite good classic saison mixed with moderate sage, I only get a very light hint of trouffle. Very nice balance. Med-thin body, high carbonation. Golden colour. Very good.

Bottle. Hazy golden color with huge white head. Gusher. Aroma of malt, yeast, some spices, sage, truffles. Taste, yeast, earthy notes, oranges, sage, bit harsh bitterness in finish. Overall refreshing beer.

Bottle from the Brewery online shop. Pours hazy pale yellow gold with a thin white head. Aromas of light sour funk, spice, faint sage. Taste is light sour, dried herbs. Tangy finish. Truffles?

Veldig lys gylden. Høyt kritthvitt luftig skum som daler sakte. Aroma av krydder & parfyme. Smaken som aromaen. Tørr avslutning.

Pours hazy golden with a white head. Aroma has notes of malt, funk, tartness, saga and citrus. Taste is light sweet, light bitter and light sour with a long funky and citrus finish. Body is light, texture is thin to oily, carbonation is soft.

Bottle. A hazy, pale orange-golden colored beer with a white head. The aroma is quite herbal, sage of course, with a pleasant saison in the back. Fruity, lightly spiced and yeasty, with lemony, citrusy scents. It's medium bodied, dry and pleasantly carbonated, with a decent bitterness. The flavor is typical saison-ish, a bit yeasty perhaps, with a bit much herbal flavors. Long finish. Well, it's a decent saison, but I'm not sure I like the herbal addition too much. 190406

On tap. @ Ghetto Something. Aroma is earthy, herbal, lactic, citrusy and funky. Pours clear golden color with large creamy white head and soft visible carbonation. Taste starts sour citrusy with vivid sage note, following is grainy and vinous with dry mouthfeel. Medium body, thin texture and average carbonation in palate. Very refreshing, but (luckily) no real truffle taste...

Bottle, shared at Beer Temple, thanks 77Ships. Massive gusher, about half of the bottle was lost. From what was left: hazy golden yellow colour. White-ish head. Aroma's: lactic acid, herbs, a bit vomit/funky. Retronasal: mild, light sour-sweet, herbs. Flavour is just very light sour. Medium bodied. Finishes somewhat funky, light bitter.

330 ml. bottle shared with PotjeBier & kermis. MASSIVE GUSHER. Hazy golden with a small white head. Nose is interesting milky white wine & mineral yoghurt sourish. Taste is soapy mineral, sage lingering in the back, very simple, soapy white grape, sage in the back, floral, basic but pleasant. Soapy, low milky body. No truffle taste sadly. Not as good as hoped but pleasant enough.
