Magnum at the 5th Annual Epic Beer Tasting in Richmond, VA, November 28, 2010. Pours a murky dark amber color with a thin head. Fair head retention and lacing. Aroma of earth, must, citrus, yeast and burnt sugar. The taste is caramel, earthy notes, mild funk, apples and other fruity notes. Medium-full bodied and quite smooth. Very nice.

Appearance: Hazy amber with a very small amount of head, no lacing
Aroma: Tart/sour fruits
Taste: Sour fruits and woody, medicinal
I think this was past it’s prime.

Bottle shared by puzzl (thanks!) at the 2010 RBSG Grand Tasting. Poured a cloudy amber with a thin off-white head. Aroma was tart with raspberry and cherry with a bit of underlying sweet grains and caramel. Flavor was a combo sour cherries and raspberries with just a hint of backing sweet grains.

Bottle opened on the bus ride from Orlando to Tampa Bay Brewing Co. Pours a brownish color with minimal cream colored head. Aroma of sour, musty fruit. Flavor is tart, doughy and dank with some fruit and alcohol. Medium body with soft carbonation. Thanks to whoever opened this.

bottle pours hazy caramel with a thin white film. Thick vinegar, port wine, strawberry nose. Very mellow thin tart cherries. Not as flavorful as the aroma leads onto.

Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Pours with no head. Hazy amber-red body beneath. Aroma of red wine, brett, bitterness, alcohol, raspberries and oak. Taste is oak and Copper-Tone suntan lotion with caramel and a bit of sour and earthiness. Syrupy mouthfeel, no carbonation, warming.

Bottled shared by Marcus. Color is really hazey amber. Head was bubbles. Aroma is really mildly acetic wonderfully apple fruity. Medium body with mild carbonation. Flavor is oaky, sour apple ale. There is very little heat considering the 15.5% abv. The fnish is sophisicated oak and caramel. Aged fricking well. Love it.

Ive been sitting on this for over two years. My butt was starting to hurt. Pours brown with copper hues and thin off white head. The aroma starts with a layer of tartness along with notes of dark fruity esters and earthy funk. The taste begins with a brief pulse of raisins, prunes and then a spike of tartness. It then starts to move in to red wine fruitiness and drying red wine tannins. There are also notes of mild funk among the various peaks and valleys of Brett like tartness. Nice balance between sweet beer notes, tartness and earthy funk. Very little notice of the staggering ABV.

It pours a hazy dark chestnut color with amber shades, almost still, with a oily surface. The aroma hits immediately, vinous, lightly sour and fruity, with undertones of mature wood, and very light accents of spices; wonderful. Medium body strength, without trace of the high alcohol content, slightly sweet caramel flows on the tongue, wrapping the mouth with a complex of dry fruits, mature wood, spices, and rising bitterness. In the end, finally a pleasant warmth warns about the alcohol. Lovely, I haven´t had such a good beer in some time.

courtesy of ibrew2or3. Another good addition to the Belgian Strong Ale style, and this one packs an amazing boozy punch. Pours hazy brown with beige head. Aroma lets off some sourness mixed with light fruity undertones. Taste, oaky with notes of some fruit - apple - definitely has a sour presence. A good beer to sip on. Very complex.
