750ml from dsnowden, thank you!!!
Ok, i’ve been anxiously waiting for this.
Aroma is fruity, and sour, with a touch of caramel. the sourness is very much like a flemish sour, and overall the aroma is very much like wine. Flavour is woody, the oak really comes through. Its a combo of an oak aged flemish sour, and a barley wine. I’m getting the sourness with oak and caramel. If there ever was a beer that deserved it’s own classification its this one. VERY interesting, i thoroughly enjoyed it! 15.5% are you kidding me!?! i wonder if thats a typo, the alcohol isnt even close to being present. Wow, awesome stuff

Bottle, many thanks derA! Murky brown color with white head. Aroma is maltose, balsamico, light oxidation. Taste is balsamico, maltose, light oxidation, prunes. A bit metallic finish, low carbonation. Fun, but probably a bit past its prime.

Taster, courtesy of DerA. Pours BFM color, much denser though. Aroma is oxidized, metallic, glue, but still some BFM funk lurking behind. Body is heavy and strong, yet wierdly oily, and acidic. Palate is long and super warming, dense and softly sweet. Not the perfect ageing, but it still works.

750mL bottle, sent from Glouglouburp (thanks a lot, Dany), pours a murky dark mahogany with a small beige head. Aroma of massive wood, oak, vinous notes, and tart dark fruits - no hint of 15.5%. Flavour brings out loads of wood, vinegar, some slightly tart dark fruits, oak and some mildly vinous notes. Quite vinegary and oaky. Surprisingly, no slight hint of the 15.5% - seems like 7 or 8% max. Finishes on moderately vinegary notes with quite a bit of oak. Great stuff.

Bottle at Brick Store Pub in Decatur, shared with staf, two dudes drinking Founders, and a polite older British couple. Cloudy ruby naroon color, scant tan edge head. Aroma of ruby port, plums, raisins. Taste is lightly tannic and softly sour red grapes, apples skins, cranberries. Easy to drink for such a big beer. Fantastic stuff, never expected to find it on a quick weekend trip to Atlanta.

Bottle @ Blindtasting, Odense, July 2011. Pours cloudy amber red with a small creamy bubbly head. Nose is tart, fruity and vinous with some clearly oxidized notes. Oak, caramel and subdued acetone. Flavor has a bit of cellar. Vaguely over the top.

Deep amber with a small off-white head. Aroma of cherry, vinegar, malt with faint notes of alcohol and turpentine. Oddly un-integrated flavour with lots of alcohol, dusty cellar, mint and licorice, cherry and wood.

/8/11/12/12/11

750 ml bottle shared by mreusch. 2005 Vintage. Pour is hazed brown copper with a minimal off white head. Aroma is soft cherry sour, vinegar acidity, along with a light grassiness. Taste is acidic, cherry sweet, oak barrell, all pretty soft and integrarted - nicely rounded. Doesn’t really show the age at all. Palate is medium to heavy bodied, low carbonation level makes this a slow sipper. A touch of alcohol in the finish that plays well with the overall taste. Thanks for sharing this one Matt.
