Can. Beer Central, Sheffield. Nearly black. Messy tan head. Not especially a looker. Nose has savoury smoke. Dark chocolate. Treacle. Caramel. Leafy hop. Taste is sweet, with rich roast chocolate malt. Smooth mouthfeel with fine carbonation. Some boozy vapour. Finish gets vinous and boozy. Tasty gear for sure, but there’s not too much finesse here.

Keg at Tlit, Bingohame Bimble, 11/06/21. Pitch black with a tan cap that thins to a to swirl. Nose is dark malts, charr, spice, dark chocolate, dates, light smoke. Taste comprises molasses, tangy dried fruits, spice, earthy, cocoa powder, roasted bite, charr. Full bodied, fine carbonation, drying close with a rising boost offered. Decent straight up old skool kind of an impy.

Taste - raisins, prunes, molasses, liquorice and just a hint of lurking dark chocolate this time. Palate - full bodied, creamy texture and a roasty finish. Overall - really complex and very good.
