Can shared at Ganz. Pours jet black with a beige head. Nose is intense dried fruits, coffee, roasted malty, earthy notes, a touch of smoke and some molasses. Taste is pretty much the same, mainly coffee, earthy notes, molasses and dried fruits. Closes with a roasted, chocolatey, moderately fruity finish that dries off by the end of the sip, it has a light to medium body (could’ve had more of it) and soft carbonation. Decent no-adjunct RIS and if it had some more body, and intensity taste-wise then it could’ve been even better.

Can from The Beerhive. Black body with a tan head that slowly fades. No visible carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of coffee, liquorice and smoked malt. Flavour of blueberry, dark chocolate, liquorice and a hint of smoke. Medium body with a smooth texture. Soft fizz. I’ve been craving a straight-up imperial stout and this really hits the mark. It’s not cheap but it’s certainly very tasty.

440 ml can. Pours black with moderate tan head. Aromas of roasted malts and burnt marshmallows. Flavors of charred wood, inky soy sauce, and clean roasted malts. Really good stuff. I could have another

Can from Brew Cavern. It pours black with small tan head. The aroma is sweet, sticky, toothy, chewy, rich roasted malt, umami, touch of marmite, chocolate gateaux, coffee beans, bitter caramel, earth and tar. The taste is slick, oily, toothy, chewy, bitter, dry, chewy, umami, liquorice, dark chocolate, earth, cacao nibs, dark fruits, plum, prune, spicy, warming booze and tar with a dry, toothy finish. Medium - fulsome carbonation, fine carbonation and slick, oily mouth feel. A nice rich, toothy old-skool impy stoot.
