18/XII/22 - 33cl can from Geers, shared @ home, BB: 21/X/23 (2022-1751)

Clear dark brown to black beer, big creamy beige solid head, stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: very malty, soft roast, coffee notes, a little nutty, caramel touch. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: nice malty start, good roast, grains, cow fodder, pretty bitter, slightly sweet, sourish touch, a bit oxidized, dried fruits, prunes. Aftertaste: very roasted, coffee, bitter, some chocolate, slightly sourish, hoppy finish, cocoa powder.

Bottle. Unclear brown color with beige head. Aroma is roasted malts, dark chocolate, some hay. Taste is the same. Solid balance, good drinkability, nice one. Velvety mouthfeel, natural carbonation. Nothing too special, but very tasty!

Dark brown with a beige, foamy head of modest duration. Aroma of nuts, dark chocolate, ashes. Slight juniper hints. Taste is bittersweet up front, moderate bitter at the back, a mix of burnt grains and minerals. Body to the full side of medium, mildly watery texture. There’s the sharpness that comes from an over-carbonated beer, without it actually being over-carbonated. Still, pretty good.

Bottle. Pretty black, dark brown creamy layer. Intense coffee/berry nose, licorice roast. Medium full, dry yet creamy bodt, sparkles. Dark licorice cocoa, broad coffee liquor, intense yet well balanced to a sparkly dark sugar finish. Delicious.

330ml bottle. Jet black colour with slightly late awakening, average to huge, thick, frothy to creamy, slowly osteoporosing, minimally lacing, tan head. Roasty and chocolately, dark malty aroma, notes of dark chocolate, coffee, mocha, cocoa, whiffs of toffee, lovage, malt lozenge. Taste is moderately bitter, roasty, chocolately dark malty, notes of coffee, burnt coffee, Belgian chocolate, a spicy touch of lovage. Creamy to viscous texture, smooth and soft, slightly cloying palate, very fine, soft to flat carbonation. Rich, intense - nice to find a Stout of this quality without adjuncts in these days...
