Cask at Barrel Store, St Pancras. Aroma has sour berries with underlying malts. Clear light chestnut. Frothy foamy off-white head. Light-medium grainy bitterness with a sour edge. Underlying malty notes and some juicy sweetness. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Flat-soft carbonation. Long somewhat astringent finish. OK unexciting Bitter.

Sampled cask and bottle side by side. Rating is about the 'preferred) version of cask. Pours clear, copper. Scent is a bit caramelly. Soft and gentle. Taste is full, crisp caramel maltyness. Not the longest finish, but a great drinkin' beer. The bottled version was - as to be expected - a bit less sweet, and higher in carbonation

(Cask at Penderel's Oak JDW, Holborn, London, 23 Nov 2022) Dark amber colour with creamy, beige head. Malty, hoppy nose with caramel, nuts, dried fruit and earthy hops. Malty, roasted taste with notes of caramel, dried fruit, nuts and a balanced earthy bitterness. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Refreshing and well balanced. Quite nice.
