Rather than choosing between sour or hoppy, we decided to create a beer that would be both at the same time. Showcasing the aromatic benefits of a generous dry hop (Citra, Amarillo, and Cascade), harnessing the pleasing acidity of lactic acid producing bacteria (we use a 5-strain house blend), and coming to a bottle near you without a pesky 2 year slumber in oak, Jelly King is the fermented embodiment of having your cake and eating it too.
This limited edition Jelly King variant was conditioned on loads of raspberry and blackberry purée.
This vibrant variation of Jelly King displays intense aromatics and flavours of freshly picked blackberries, raspberry compote and Swedish Berries.

Bottle from the brewery and lcbo. Deep, opaque purple pour with a medium pinkish purple head. Aroma is tart raspberry puree, with some blueberry and light citrus rind. Mouth feel is slightly creamy, with a soft carb. Tart finish, hints of fruity funk, loads of tart, citrusy raspberry puree.

Pricey 16oz single from Appalachian. Pint glass at home. Purple-plum gray hazy with a lightly pink, frothy head. Raspberry-grape jam, a little vinous & tart with some herbage. Thin hop water, slightly veggie. Soupy hops. Fresh berry juice, leaning grape then raspberry. Flour water slurry finish. Level carbonation. Medium-low sourness, mellow tartness. Tastes pretty decent outside the hop profile, texture sucks. It really does come off like natural soda.

(Bottle, 0.5 l - bottled on 17.02.2021, thanks tiong, at Arde, 20211008) The beer poured ruby red and cloudy. Its head was medium sized and lightly pink. Aroma had raspberries, strawberries and tartness. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were raspberries, strawberries, malts and light tartness. Aftertaste was lightly tart. A tasty berry juice.

500ml bottle. Heavy with berry notes, some tartness, mild sourness and funky farmyardy notes. Some blackcurrant and raspberries. Okay.

Hazy red, small, pink head. Aroma of raspberry, cassis, yoghurt, macaroon, sorbet, strawberry. Taste has sweet-sour raspberry, cassis & blueberry in a yoghurty, slightly biscuity malt body. Tart, red-fruity finish, bit acidic but not tannic per se. Medium body, slick texture, soft carbonation. Good, easy-drinking almost.

Pours unclear purple, small white head. Scent is sweet-ish (by the fruits) . Taste is tart, fruity. Mild sweetness trough the intense fruityness. Very decent, but not extremely memorable.
