Paying homage to our favorite yeast, St. Bretta is fermented with our house mixed-culture of Brettanomyces. From its historic significance in old-world beers to this, the new age of Brett, we embrace this yeast as a focal point in our artisan brewery. A re-imagination of early farmhouse saisons brewed in Europe, St. Bretta combines fresh citrus characteristics with yeast-driven tropical fruit flavors and aromas. Unfiltered and naturally wild, we package each can with a small amount of yeast to maintain maximum freshness for wherever life's adventures take you.

Can, 5.2%. Slightly hazy yellow with medium white head. Aroma is malt, fruit, lemon, spices, brett and lime. Flavour is malt, fruit, citric, lemon, lime, spices, little sweet, brett and medium dry.

355ml can from Brewdog Bottlebox (as St. Bretta Citrus, 5.8%). Smooth, funky and citrusy with loads of bretta, farmyard, cellar and yeasty notes. Pretty nice and refreshing.

Can. Hazy golden pour. Aroma of funky barnyard, citrus, brett, horseblanket, tart and orange. Taste of funk, tart, horseblanket, brett, citrus, orange and dry oaky vanilla. Like a lighter American Orval. Nice.

Can. Straw gold with a large white head that collapses to 3/2". Aroma of crackers, spices, lemon, a little pissy note. Light bodied, highly carbonated but stays a little creamy. Dry with lemon and orange, crackery dough, well integrated spices and twiggy funk. Modest bitterness. Just my sort of thing.

Tap. Unclear golden color with white head. Aroma is candy funk. Taste is candy funk, dry, almost chalky. Fizzy carbonation. Not great.

Can. Mitchell’s Wines, Sheffield. Different label and this is 5.8%? Hazed, dark straw colour. Full and thick, lasting, bright white foam. Nose has sharp, lemony brett. Grapefruit rind. Soft, milky funk. Notes of white pepper and clove like spice. Taste is dry and lightly tart. Medium body, with a burp inducing, foamy fizz. Quite cleansing on the palate. Dry, and lightly tart, citrusy finish. Very nice, and at just over 3 quid a pop, this is a beer I’d happily fill the fridge with.
