Originally brewed with our friend Yvan De Baets from Brasserie De La Senne, this modern Anglo-Belgian pale ale represents both breweries’ love of crisp pale ales. A high proportion of spelt aids the dryness. Hoppy on the nose with an assertively pleasing bitterness. We remain proudly European!

Can from Lupe Pintos. Hazy pale golden body with a thick white head. No visible carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of bay leaf, cracker and lime peel. Flavour of grass, lemongrass and lime sherbet. Medium body with a smooth texture. Soft fizz. I had this in 2018 and rated it 3.3; I’m sure my tastebuds have change since then but I thought this was excellent.

330ml bottle @ Chez Sophie. Pours pale golden yellow with a light mist, large white head. Fresh floral nose. Super crisp, floral, dry character with enthusiastic Belgian-style carbonation, soft yeasty esters, light grassy citrus. A little thin, but a good light refresher.

Bottle at home in London - picked up at Clapton Craft (I think). Pours clear yellow-gold with a creamy, pure white head. Quite clean overall, also really dry, a bit too flinty, some pine needles, sturdy grassy bitterness, lemon peel. Light bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Assertive bitter grass in the finish, lots of flinty minerality, straw. Just alright overall.

Bottle shared with DSG. Hazy pale golden color with white head. Aroma is grassy, flowery, earthy, classic De La Senne milky-flowery character. Taste is floral, very pale malts, grassy, slightly bitter, dry finish. Silky mouthfeel with low carbonation. Good, and exactly what you expect from the name, but not the very best.

Keg at Craftsman. It pours cloudy yellow with a medium white head. The aroma is fresh, fragrant, crackery malts, doughy bread, ripe stone fruits and juicy lemon - lime. The taste is firmly dry, light bitterness, clean, doughy bread, cracker, grassy, peppery, pithy and floral accents. Lighter end of medium body and moderate, foamy carbonation. Exception balance. Utterly drinkable. Delcious, yet subtle.

Hazed pale golden to yellow with a decent white cap. Nose is mellow citric peel, bread dough, light herb, grassy, melon. Taste comprises lemon sherbets, light apple skin, stale bread, gentle yeast esters, citric pith, toasted grains. Medium bodied, soft massaging carbonation, semi drying close with a gentle bitter citric edge. Decent sessionable, table kind of affair.
