Hazy golden with white head. Sour grains, apricot, prune, thankfully no sickly jammy mirabelle notes, just tight tart fruity stonefruit. Just over medium sour. Medium body and soft carb. Spritzy mineral stuff. Tasty.

Bottle shared thanks to sjogro. Murky orange golden with small white head. Crisp funk, that nice Boon alsmot flinty cellar funk, lots of fruit with a ton of mirabelles but also orange, grapefruit, wheat, dry oak. Solid medium sour, light sweet and bitter. Medium bodied with sparkly carbonation. Very fruity, nice. --- Beer aliased from original tick of Oude Mirabelle Tilquin à l’Ancienne (2020-2021) on 14 May 2022 at 19:07 - Score: Appearance - 7 | Aroma - 8.5 | Flavor - 8.5 | Texture - 9 | Overall - 8.5. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: nice, fruity, juicy, lovely, gentle acidity, lovely stuff, very fruity! Aftertaste: bit floral, soapy touch, some orange peel, bitter touch, some tannins, nice one!

The newest bottled Tilquin fruit lambic to date, the refermented embodiment of one of many experimental fruit lambics – making use of mirabelle plums, a small species of plum I remember vividly from my grandmother’s old orchard several decades ago, but which seems to pop up in craft beer increasingly often lately. Egg-white, thin and opening, dissolving ‘mousse’ for a head, cloudy apricot (or indeed ‘mirabelle’) blonde robe with yellowish-beige tinge. Aroma of mirabelles or small yellow plums in general – not quite ripe but a bit astringent still, embedded in impressions of lemon flesh, grass silage, raspberry juice, green gooseberries, lime juice, kefir, wet old wood, unripe mandarin, damp hay (Brett!), green garden weeds. Crisply sour onset, lots of plum tartness with inevitable fruit acidity accentuating the lambic’s own lactic sourness and green apple- and unripe gooseberry-like fruitiness; the plums seem a bit wry, but still add a lot of vivid fruitiness and even juiciness – with a dash of ‘softness’ I refrain from referring to as ‘sweet’. Vivid carb, solid body, a bready core deeply buried under estery and sour lambic effects, light Bretty funkiness which will no doubt evolve further with some ageing, and strong fruitiness, which seems to move away from its initial juiciness into a drying, bit astringent tannic effect from the kernels and the skins, connecting with the woodiness of the barrels at the back. Earthy hop bitterish note down below, lingering crisp lemony sourness and halfripe stonefruit wryness and mildly funky ‘damp hay’ effects round things off – making the whole delivering exactly as promised: fruit-filled in a somewhat ‘green’ and astringent, but nevertheless juicy way. Excellent, like all of Tilquin’s bottled fruit lambics.

Pours bit unclear blonde. Nearly no head. Scent is funky, but strong fruit presence takes the upperhand. Taste is full, very fruity. Sharp, very mildly acetic. Dry, woody, funky. Full and complex. Refreshing. Quite nice.
