On tap at Uiltje Bar. Jet black, beige head. Nose is moderate smoke, woods, earthy notes, some very dark chocolate and coffee. In taste it’s less smokey and more coffee and earthy, still very pleasant. Medium bodied with long, bittersweet finish and average carbo. Good un.

Black with a creamy, beige head that lingers the duration. Aroma of roasted grains, and slightly oxidized. Taste follows suspicions—mildly bitter with an acidic, sour finish, despite noticeable coffee and roasted flavors underneath. Clearly going off. Can’t find a date anywhere on the bottle. Bought last month. A big disappointment.

330ml bottle. Quasi black colour with average to huge, thick, creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, dark beige to tan head. Roasty, smoky, chocolately dark malty and slightly leafy, spicy aroma, notes of smoked ham, coffee, chocolate, dark chocolate, a touch of smoked eel, laurel, juniper berry. Taste is sweet-ish and smoky, roasty, chocolately, dark malty, slightly fruity hoppy, minimally leafy, spicy, notes of treacle, dark chocolate, some coffee, smoked ham, a touch of red berries, plum, laurel, juniper berry, plum wine; well hidden alcohol. Oily texture, smooth, soft and silky, minimally cloying palate, fine and soft, creamy carbonation. Well balanced and harmonious composition, mild smokiness, fine fruitiness, mild roasty and hoppy bitterness - excellent!

Smooth velvety body and served warm and uncarbonated off a key keg. Good smoke component. Rather dry and light body otherwise though. Lambrate milano

Beer-shop.it. 17.04.20

Bottle from Il Birraiuolo, Naples. Pours cloudy very dark brown with stable tan head. Clear aroma of smoke, malt, yeast, and dried fruit with mild touches of coffee. Bitter, roasty and smoky flavour with sweetish touches of yeast and malt and hints of fruit and coffee. Bitter, roasty aftertaste with mild estery hints. Warming alcohol presence. Nice, well-balanced, not sweet, with a decent smokiness and bitterness level for the style, but perhaps the alcohol comes through a little too distincly in the aftertaste.

Bottle from Vinmonopolet, Storo, Oslo. Black with a big brown head. Aroma is sweet, roasted malt and heavy smoked meat. Flavor is quite sweet and moderate bitter. Sweet and moderate bitter finish. I like my smoked beers less sweet. 111119
