Pours hazy, dirty coppery-chestnut brown, topped with a medium sized, stable and lssting beige head. Mild nose with malty hints and a bit of woodiness, slight bacon in there as well. Malty sweet, lots of wood, medium bitterness - alltogether quite harsh. Finishing with slight whisky feel and some nice vanilla. A bit of alcohol presence. Medium body. Has a lot of potential, but harshness kills it.

330ml bottle. Pours a clear red-brown with a medium, creamy, long lasting, beige head that laces. Sweet aroma of toasted malt, caramel, vanilla, spice, dark fruit and oak. Sweet flavour of caramel malt, spice, vanilla, dark fruit and oak with a rum finish. Medium body with a watery texture and soft carbonation. Ok, nothing special.

Bottle that Dad shared - cheers! Deep red-brown with a middling beige head and a light fizz. Slightly acrid peat bog and charred wood whiff develops into a nicer flavour on tasting with chocolate, oak, treacle, raisins and a little blackcurrant. A little rum finally emerges in the mildly bitter finish. Possibly not up to their best but enjoyable nevertheless.
