Lisa from Heater Allen, Andrew and Tim from Modern Times, and Kevin from Wayfinder were blown away with some of the new school pilsners brewed in Italy right now. They’re crazy expressive new-world riffs on German-style pilsners, typically dry-hopped with modern Euro hops. Taking some hints from the Italians, we hopped this with 2#/bbl of spice heavy German hops; Spalt Select and Tettnanger. Then we dry-hopped it with Polaris and more Tettnanger, krausened with fresh Czech Pils wort, spunded and cold-conditioned to perfection.

Can from Norms: Pours super pale with white head. Aroma is spicy and herbal hops, a little grass along with that. Taste is low bitterness, fairly dry. Nice aftertaste.

Poured from a 16 oz can dated September 22, 2023. Aroma is malt forward with nice bready, grain notes. Hints of woody, herbal hops and faint alcohol notes. Pours a clear, brilliant, yellow-gold with a medium sized thick, pillowy, white head that recedes slowly to a small film that lingers. Moderate lacing and faint legs. Flavor is somewhat sweet with medium light bready, grain notes. Moderate bitterness and hints of alcohol. Moderately strong woody, herbal hop notes that linger in the crisp, dry finish. Mouthfeel is light bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a solid Italian pilsner. Perhaps a bit strong on the hop flavor and bitterness. Crisp, dry body and finish with decent grain notes.

On tap at Wayfinder, pours a clear blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out crisp grassy hops and crackery malt. Flavour is crisp, with lots of crunchy grassy hops and crisp crackery malt. Crisp and well-hopped, with assertive carbonation on the finish. Good stuff.
