Can from Brix Bottle Shop in Kalispell, MT. Pours a crystal clear mahogany color with a tight khaki head and very good retention. A few spots of lacing. Caramel malt aroma. Very mellow caramel malt flavor with a slight tart cherry finish. Medium-light body. Average carbonation. Low bitterness. Nothing bad, but a bit underwhelming.

355ml can. Pours a clear red-brown with a medium, foamy, long lasting, beige head that laces. Sweet aroma of lightly roasted malt, caramel, dark chocolate, earth and a hint of smoke. Sweet flavour of roasted bready malt, caramel, toffee, cocoa, raisin, peat, nuts and earthy hops in a dry finish. Light body with a watery texture and soft carbonation. Ok, but nothing special.

12 oz can from Brewers Haven, poured into thistle. Dark brown, light peeking through, small, thin head fades to beige ring, no lacing. Aroma is peat, earthy, slightly ashy, but light. Taste is sweet, peat, smoky flavors, but weak. Thin feel too. So i can believe the low scores....rewind...temperature has everything to do here, got much better as it warmed

12oz can pours with a clear ruby red to amber body that supports a tan head of foam. The aroma offers up caramel, cherry, grape juice and sweet malts. The taste delivers sweet malts and a bit of roasted malts flowing into dark fruity esters like cherries, raisins and prunes. Behind those notes are some caramel malts and a bit of earthiness that help give this added balance and depth. Pretty nice.

Can: Deep copper pour with a rather thin white head. Peat at first, then a little lager malt in the nose. A little musty. Flavor is lighty fruity up front, followed by a bit of peat and smoke. Finishes with a little earthy and floral bitterness. Kinda watery.
