Bottle direct from the Kloster. Amber with a fleeting crown. Not much to look at. Aroma is honey and vaguely floral with a touch of orange peel. Taste is the highlight, bitter and a touch citric over a well-rounded, honey sweet body. Lingering bitter finish. Medium bodied, mild carbonation. Goes down real easy. In the end, a good one.

"Ettaler Heller Bock", Fläschchen aus dem Klosterladen Ettal, verkostet 17.6.2025 im Direktvergleich mit dem Berchtesgadener Böckei. - Helles Goldbraun, klar. - In der Nase breites helles Malz mit tiefer Süße, Anklänge an Honig und robuste wenngleich gedämpfte orangenbittere Hopfung. - Antrunk kernig gerstig hellmalzig und lebhaft herbal hopfenherb. Erfreulich dezente Süße. Nur mild rezent, vollmundig; solide kaschierter Alkohol. Im Abgang immer noch sehr aromatische, robuste Hopfenherbe mit kühlenden minzigen Zügen. - Frisch und aromatisch gehopfter heller Bock, eine sehr angenehme Überraschung.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours a clear golden with a smallish, rough, white head. Solid malt nose with some spicy, flowery hops. Potent, malty body with a surprisingly low carbonation. Sulphur, gunpowder and spicy hops with a sufficient bitterness. Lovely. 080923

Can from City Beer: pours. Slightly hazy yellow with a white heard. Grainy, floral. Taste is lightly sweet, low bitterness. Nice pale maltiness.

Lemon, biscuit malt, and fresh hay aroma. Golden yellow with moderate head. Moderately sweet lemon, orange, biscuit malt, and mildly bitter fresh grass flavor. Good body.

Can grab Bavaria tick #99. Gold pour fairly clear. Nose is bready and some spice. Tastes of bread, black pepper, sweet malts, wet wood. Oily palate.

Hay nose. Clear amber, thick head, nice lace. Sweet hay, cane sugar, tinny. Medium body, easy carbonation. A bit too sweet for my taste.

Pale amber with a slight haze, and small head. Sweet, with a slight fruitiness, some alcohol…kind of a clunk. Absolutely one of the hardest styles to make. If Ettaler flunks out like this, damn.

33 cL bottle, bought at the Klosterladen. Pours a clear, bright, yellow color, with a medium, bubbly, white head. The aroma is hay, roasted corn, honeysuckle, resin, and butterscotch. Sweet and yeasty, with a smooth bitterness. Light body, with a sharp, chewy mouthfeel. This is a pretty nice bock.
