Pours a black colour and a brown head with a thin layer retention and some lacing. Aroma's: firm roast, umami at first (later disappearing), dark chocolate, light bourbon and wood. Retronsasal: roasted, dark chocolate, light bourbon. Flavour is moderate roasted bitter and light sweet. Alcohol feel is not too strong, but it warms the throat. Medium bodied. Finishes with firm roast, above moderate bitter. A bit low on the barrel but otherwise surprisingly good.

Rich dark brown coloured body with a two centimetre tall light brown-head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and coffee with a very earthy and almost mushroomy scent along with some light alcohol notes. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong rich roasty flavours dominate with a little bourbon, oak, grain and malt along with oatmeal and some specialty grains. Aftertaste shows a bit more of the complexity with some vanilla, a lot of caramelised sugar sweetness and a touch of the bourbon and alcohol notes that permeate throughout, and make this well rounded! Overall, a nice and rich beer that shows some moderate complexity and depth, while hiding the alcohol pretty well and not showing up too much of the barrels, either. I sampled this ten ounce snifter on draught at Whole Foods in Pentagon City (Arlington), Virginia on 06-December-2016 for US$6,00 at the end of my driveway!
