Originally brewed on the June Solstice of 2012 with our Danish friends Peter Sonne of Flying Couch and Christian Skovdal Andersen of Beer Here, this Farmstead® amber ale pays tribute to those early years and their continuing friendship. We have created this new iteration to honor that deep and abiding connection.

Note: starting from 2019, Sankt Hans was aged in oak puncheons. Check the year on your bottle to determine which you have.

Pours a clear orange-amber color with a medium off-white head that diminishes slowly to an outer ring. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. The aroma consists of funky fruit, yeast and malt. Light-bodied with flavors of brett, apples, toasted malt and yeast. The finish is mildly tart with a fruity aftertaste. Above average overall.

Bottle @ "Press Deans button tasting". Gusher. Opaque muddy orangy color, small white head that diminishes almost instantly. Aroma is sourish, green apple, sour fruits. Taste sourish, molten plastic, lightly green apple, tart. Is it intended? Not sure but it’s not really badaactually, as a sour ale that is.

Bottle at Deano’s monthly tasting, September 2013. Poured a cloudy medium amber with a thin white head. The aroma is yeasty with a little citrus fruit and caramel. The flavour is hugely sour. This must be infected.

Bottle shared at the Press Dean’s Button tasting. Pours murky golden brown with an off white head. Aroma is massive infected, a little peppery, not actually bad but guessing it shouldn’t be this way. Flavour is light sweet, moderate sour. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

750 ml bottle bought @ bierkompass.de. Pours very hazy yellowish amber with a big frothy goldenish white head that slowly dissipates while leaving some sticky trace on the glass. Smell is slightly sour, fruity and funky with sourdough bread, biscuits, lemon juice, moist hay, lemon zest, sour milk, lemon balm, parsley, black pepper corns, wood, soil and hints of ripe tropical fruits. Taste is slightly sour, tiny bitter, malty, tart and herbal with sourdough bread, lemon juice, unflavoured yoghurt, moist soil, pepper corns, coriander, moist overripe green herbs, hay, wood, dark grapes and lemon zest. Mouthfeel is dry, tart, slightly vinous and light to medium bodied. Finish is sour and tart with sourdough bread, crème fraîche, moist herbs, lemon juice, wood and hay. Very nice as expected by a Hill Farmstead brewed saison.
