Kievari Portteri, at Joe’s Place Pub, Silja Europa. Very dark brown body, nearly black. Brown head. Raisin assault in the sweet, malty nose. Messy taste. The initial impression was dark malts battered with metal, some dryish hop and some tartness and it remains the same, only that the slight overcarbonation becomes obvious. Not brilliant, not clean.

Bottle shared at Villi Wäinö. Very dark brown pour, small white head with low retention. Aroma is very malty with some coffee, chocolate and caramel. Flavor matches aroma with strong roasted malt and a bitter finish. (Rated 2011/04/22)

Bottle looks good. Beer in the glass dark, almost black, no head. Starts malty-dry, notes of dry fruits, some plum, a bit chocolate. Finish more woody, quite bitter. Finish scratchy with a salty touch. Interesting beer!

Bottle at the lakeside cabin, post wedding, near Laitila, Finland. I’m glad someone decided to throw a few of these into the cooler, as this was so much more palatable than the Kukko lager. Darkish brown pour with a medium tan head. Sweetish nose with the accent firmly on roasted malt, a theme which continued on in to the flavour. Some vague dark fruit and coffee notes also. Unspectacular but perfectly drinkable. Here’s to the happy couple....

26.12.09. 50cl bottle, Alko. Pours dark brown color , nice brown thin head. Aroma is rye and roasted malt. Comes to think of "mämmi". Flavour is lightly sweet malty and bit oily mouthfeel towards finish. Enjoyable.

(Bottle. Thanks to Saint Matty) Dark brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of sweet black coffee, dark chocolate, dark bread and dried fruit. Malty taste with dark rye bread, sweet black coffee and liquorice. Balanced bitterness. Full body, fairly sweet. A nice and solid Baltic porter.
