Extra strong, top-fermented beer of the Belgian type. Thanks to long maturation and special yeast, it has a distinctive taste with a slightly fruity touch and a high alcohol content. It is best enjoyed in small sips.

On tap at Minipivovar Krajinska rafter a very hot and sticky walk from Vodácké centrum camping into České Budějovice, Saturday 20th June 2026 we then visited the Budvar brewery before walking back into town. Pours dark amber, edging towards a light conker brown colour, slight haze, off white head. Describes itself as a Belgian type beer, but it's a bit too rough and ready, like a home-brewed barley wine. Yeah rough and a bit harsh with the alcohol. It's not all bad but there are few redeeming features here. Score: 6.0

Tap at the brewpub. Beer in the glass dark orange, nice head. Intense malty alcoholic aroma. Starts intense malty, boozy, alcoholic. Sweetish background. Way too much alcohol, not much other notes. Dry alcoholic finish. Not my favourite...

Swing-top bottle, 0.50l, courtesy of CanCrusher, shared with Boštjan. Aroma of caramel, toasted malt, dried fruit and flowers. Pours clear amber brown color with thin creamy tan-like head and sparkling appearance. Taste starts with sweet toasted malt and caramel, following is herbal and dried fruity, mouthfeel is warm, while finish is pretty bitter. Full body, oily texture and average carbonation in palate. 27 reasons for more…

bottle, kindly donated by my good friend from Kralupy, opened and tasted by me, then quickly re-directed to Bochum. Golden brown with a red glow, small but stable beige head. Malty and sweet with lots of dried fruits (dates, raisins, figs), vinous flavour also present, almost Port like with a lovely fruity finish.

Lahev s patentním uzavěrem (Díky do Bodámského...): Hazy, copper coloured with a ruby sheen, medium-sized and very slowly collapsing off-white head; moderate to solid sweet nose of dried fruits and sweet caramel, vinous and woody traces underneath, herbal hops hardly detectable; solid sweet flavour, full bodied and pretty soft; sweet vinous/fruity finish with a slight alcohol-burn in the aftertaste. Good night-cap...

Tap at the brewpub. Darker misty orange-amber body, laaaasting off white head. Elegant malt mixing with a vague phenol touch in the taste, turning towards orange. Elegant orange candy-malt taste, pure life, alcohol kicks for a second. Lean but as expected sweetish-lightly sticky in the finish. Alcohol is omnipresent but never invasive, which is a plus. A good, classy winter warmer.
