Nick, Barnaby and Chris from the legendry Three Floyds visited BrewDog in August 2010 to brew this crazy beer. An inherently Scottish spin on a barley wine brewed with peated malts from Islay, shortbread, toffee and eclectic hops.

A barley wine brewed with many different malts including Laphroig whisky malt, single hopped with nelsin savin with short bread, fudge and candy floss in the kettle.

After fermentation the beer was aged in old Jura single malt whisky barrels for 8 months.

330ml bottle. Pours clear dark brown with a ruby hue, minimal beige head. Aroma: huge Islay peat smoke, oak, honey, caramel, dates. Taste: moderate sweet, big peaty smoked malts, burnt toast, woody, spices, toffee, dried fruits, hint of soy. Medium body, very light carb, dry-ish warming finish. It's holding up pretty well after all this time

Bottle shared on cloin's 20k - cheers! Pours mostly clear amber-brown with a frothy, white head. Big peat aroma, some dates, brown bread, fruitcake. Medium sweet flavourbwith great big peatand rubber character, which really dominates all else. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Warm-hot finish with more prominent peat, a little burnt toast. Great peat monster.

Bottle split at my 20 KAY tastin, thanks to the OZpray (Danyell), 13/09/17. Slightly unclear mahogany brown with a decent beige covering. Nose is smoked malts, Islay on the bone, spice, medicina heat. Taste comprises smokey malts, better than the nose, spice, toffee, fruit loaf, brown bread, smoked malts, xoy sauce zuggestion, mellow barrel. Full body, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a rising boost. Decent ... has held up well.

Flaske 330ml - batch 044. Delt med djoeye og Rune i WCveien 10 Des 16. Mørk amber. Uklar. Filmskum. Heftig aroma av røkt torv. Smaken mye røkt torv. Tørr. Utmerket øl men ble litt ensformig. Farlig nær røykwhisky.

330ml bottle, batch 044, 13.5 % abv, stored in my cellar for a few years after I bought the bottle at the BrewDog bar in Glasgow in April 2012. Filmy layer, a rustic tint to a dark brown body, close to clear. Scattered lacing. Strong aroma of peaty smoke, hints of oak. Peaty smoke flavours joined by caramel and dried fruits. Roasted, warming bitterness to a lingering finish. Full bodied. A solid sipper, indeed (Shared with djoeye and Finn, rating session in Tromsø 10.12.2016).

Bottle at home. Pours dark copper/red, dry and peaty, sweet, expected this to be a lot smokier though.
