The Duck-Rabbit Barleywine is the hoppiest of all the Duck-Rabbit brews. This is a Farmville-style Barleywine, crafted the way brewers in Farmville have always done. Loads of Amarillo hops give a piney citrusy bitterness that’s supported beautifully by a toffee malt backbone.

Bottle, 11%. Peppery vanilla and coconut aroma, fried fruit and nuts... Studentenfutterbier? Cloudy red brown colour. Small tan head. The flavour is very sweet and nicely alcoholic. Has the same flavour notes as aroma notes, but the flavour is also citric. Not as flavourful as it could have been considering the ABV.

Bottle from Embrouille - thank you! Pours slightly hazy ruby / copper brown with small off-white head. Clear, sweet aroma of malt, caramel, raisins, nuts and alcohol. Sweet flavour of fruit, and caramel malt, raisins, and juniper berries. Bitter, boozy notes, rather pleasant. Bitter aftertaste. Nice.

Aroma has rich caramel notes with hints of toffee and honey. Some alcohol present in aroma as well as a touch of earthy woodsy hops. As it warms a fruitiness becomes more apparent. Pours a nice amber-copper with a small off white head. The taste is well...infected. It's a shame because there is a hint of the former beer behind the infection. The infection adds a major fruit note to the beer leaving it drinkable, but not a rich malty barleywine. The fruit is very grape-like The beer is also thinner than it otherwise should be. Overall, not bad for an infected barleywine but it would be much better if not infected. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 ounce bottle. Hazy reddish brown color topped by a smal bubbly beige head. Sweet fruity malt, yeasty sourdough nose. Tart bittersweet grapefruit flavor. Complex fruit and spicy hops in mid-taste. Very characteristic tangy/sour notes you’d expect from Duck-Rabbit. Sticky mouthfeel with very light cabonation. Finishes bitter and long.

Bottle as shown. Pours a copper color with small beige head. The aroma is yeast and fruit. Thin mouthfeel with a sweet malt and bit of funk with alcohol burn. A decent barley wine from Duck-Rabbit.
