The Duck-Rabbit Porter is very dark in color. This robust ale features a pronounced flavor of roasted grains reminiscent of dark chocolate. Also, we add oats to the grist for a round, silky mouthfeel. The malt is well balanced with hops to make this a fantastic choice for fans of traditional, robust, full-flavored beers. We’re confident that you’ll love this yummy porter!

Bottle at home 260912
Black, off white bubbly head that dissipated quickly to rim around glass, bit of lacing
Aroma - roasted malts, dark malts, chocolate, rich dark malts, bit of sweetness
Taste as aroma, some light earthy malts, soft roast, molasses
Palate - medum carb, thin to medium body. Finish as main flavour
Overall - Quite a decent porter, fairly mellow. I just wasn’t all that excited by it .

From a bottle at home (drank Feb ’12) . Pours a rich black colour with a good finger of thick beige head which soon begins to subside reducing to half a finger within a couple of minutes. The aroma was of roasted malts, caramel and brown sugar. Not a ’big’ smell to this beer. The taste was more of a let down than the smell! A little smokey tasting, roasted malts and little caramel in the background, pretty much mimicking the smell but weaker in actual flavour! A slightly sweet and dry aftertaste. I didn’t enjoy the mouthfeel at all. Prickly carbonation and far too much carbonation also too watery. Overall a disappointing porter that got worse as the journey progressed. It looks good, but that’s as good as it gets! Way too watery and too highly carbonated. Will not go near this again!

Purchased at Bruisin’ Ales in Asheville, NC; enjoyed from my hotel room after a week of gluttonous meals in Charleston, NC. Appearance is pitch black, moderate consistency, thin off-white head that laces to the glass. Aroma of chocolate, oats, and roasted malt. Taste starts off chocolatey and I can definitely taste the oats, but there is a sourness to it that is off-putting. I traveled with this one and thought that the change in temperature may have caused this, but have seen this in other reviews, so yes it does finish slightly sour. Not really a bad thing, just unexpected. Decent porter, bit unusual.

Taste is slightly sweet and slightly bitter with pumpernickel bread, vanilla fudge and lots of liquorice and coffee. Mouthfeel is rather light and smooth. 35,5 cl bottle @ home, BBE 08/2011
Surprisingly light aroma has roasted malt and hints of dark chocolate. Maybe a bit too old? Flavour has dark chocolate, cocoa and some coffee but also hints of vegetables. Smooth palate. Also the flavour gives signs that this has been aged too long. Good stuff anyway.

A dark porter with a super thick onctuous brown head. In aroma, a faint herbal chocolate. In mouth, a good sweet chocolate, dark fruits, woody notes, nice. On tap at Twin City Brewfest August 13 2011.
