Imperial stout aged in bourbon barrels
Namesake aside, this bourbon barrel-aged imperial stout is worthy of pouring every day of the week. Both elegant and complex, it exemplifies over 10 years of experience in barrel-aging technique. Notes of dark chocolate and vanilla are rounded out with hints of freshly picked cherries, dried figs, and molasses.

Dark ruby colour, almost black, minimal head, no lacing. Aroma is bourbon, cherry, vanilla, molasses. Alcohol is present but not burning. Medium bitterness. Could be more creamy. Good but not spectacular.

Stable beige rim, black beer. Stout-nose with sweetness, light hint at stout-acidity, Bourbon, vanilla. Sweet-faintly sourish, stout acidity, lactic, vanilla, Bourbon. Hints at leather and dark grains. Very well-bodied, viscous, alcoholheat. The Bourbon makes it quite sweet, but it remains an excellent I.S.

On tap at Red Cow North Loop. Pours black with a a light creamy brown head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has dry roasted malts and dark grains with dark chocolate, bourbon, coconut and a bit of dark red fruit underlying. Flavor has sweet dark grains and dark fruits with roast, bourbon and coconut supporting.

Draught @ Beer Temple, small sample (but enough for a tick). Black colour with a brown head. Aroma's are boozy, roasted, red fruit. Retronasal fruity upfront with alcohol and sweetness more subdued. Flavour is moderate sweet with hints of fruity sourness. Medium bodied. Long finish.
